Thank you for the feedback on this situation. We take the comments of our residents very seriously. We have a rigorous bed bug policy that is followed consistently to ensure that 1) the chance of outbreaks are limited, and 2) any outbreaks that do occur are contained to one area and unable to spread. We do, in fact, use bed bug sniffing dog services a minimum of 2 times per year to ensure the building is clear. An environmentally safe product called diatomaceous is used on the perimeter of the building, as well as around each suite to create a barrier protectant for each suite. This product effectively keeps them contained to the original suite, and stops them from crossing to other suites, which reduces the spread of the bed bugs in cases where they appear. Alberta Pest Control visits our buildings on a monthly basis throughout the year, to monitor and safeguard against any type of bug infestation. As well, for every rental turn-over, each suite is thoroughly inspected by a trained maintenance team. Admittedly, the chance of outbreaks cannot be completely eradicated, and we take every step possible to ensure that any outbreaks are contained to a single spot. Bed bugs are typically brought in from the outside whether on a pet, person, or in luggage and boxes. If a resident has a concern, it is our priority to react promptly and efficiently. With the help of guests and tenants by both reporting concerns and complying with the procedures to remove the bed bugs, we are able to remove the infestation in a timely and safe manner with little to no disruption to the rest of the building’s tenants and guests. |
