Overpriced food, average sized portions, and inconsistent service are how I describe recent visit. My last visit there was terrible! We tried to reserve for our friends birthday, but were told that reservations were not required as Sundays are not busy. We get there and were informed of a 1hr plus wait despite empty tables and restaurant. Eventually, we were seated at two different tables next to each other and waited 20 minutes before our orders were taken. Our waitress from the start was inattentive given some drink orders were forgotten and one person got the wrong item. I had the signature steak, which the sides were done well, but the steak was bordering on well-done when I requested it medium (big difference). There were other issues as well. Bringing our concerns to the Manager got us little given I got an alcoholic drink wiped from my bill, while others got half off of their pop. Sadly, this is becoming typical of the service. Last chance to make up for other poor experiences and they failed.
Held many functions at Ruth's Steak House alway over the top. With great apps to start to the desert to finish everything is taken care of at Ruth's. Great team of employees all around.
the best steak in the city, that is forsure, well worth the money !!!!! i go there 3-5 times per year, and i love it here .
There are good steak restaurants & GREAT ones. I'd say this one's really good but I can't say the prices are justified. i've had much better for the same price proce & same quakity for less. Another thing I had an issue is that everything was Al A Carte. If I'm going to spend 54.00 on a steak alone I'd expect atleast something on the side. Factor in a side of mushrooms, some greens & maybe a salad & you're already up to 80.00 before any tax tip or even a drink. with out any expensive wine or anything one can easily drop well over 100.00 per person. If you know my reviews by now then you'll know that I have no issues with paying top dollar, ut when I do I expect superior quality & service to go along with it. I did really enjoy the service. our waitor was very professional, polit & a pleasure to deal with. The atmosphere was clean warm & inviting. I have no major issues with this place. i just think that for what you pay you'd get more
Went there with two other couples..ordered the ribeye, mashed potatoes, wine, calamari and keylime pie. All in all, our waiter was excellent, served the ladies first, polite, very professional. The food was good, but not amazing, the steak was good but not amazing..just good, but than again, I've had good steaks at the Keg too. I thought the mashed potatoes were ok...the calamari was excellent. Basically, I think the place is overpriced for what you get. And they don't validate underground parking?
I've been to this location, and the one in Mississauga. This has to be the worst chain ever. If you like to eat your steak in a rushed, noisy atmosphere, surrounded by "dudes" in NASCAR shirts, and baseball hats, then this is the place for you. Prices are high, just like a real up-scale steak house, but service, food, and clientele are strictly old-school "Ponderosa Steakhouse". The McD's of steak. AVOID.
When I'm craving for steak, I'm here. A bit pricey but it's worth it.
The place is nice and the atmosphere is pretty good, but the food is expensive. Steaks don't come with any sides and they put butter on the Steaks. It worth checking out if you want to impress a date or take out a client.
I loved this place! Yes it is expensive. But al least you get your moneys worth. All our meals were cooked to perfection. The cocktails were yummy. Our waiter was a hoot and very accomendating. Sure it might be for tourists (I am not one) or for expense accounts (if your lucky enough to have one) but the food is still great! It is definatly one of the places that I use as a yard stick for other steak houses. And most fall short!
Wow, so disappointed they serve you a regular filet mignon that also is small in size and to give it flavour grease it up. Unbelievable. For further highway robbery everything is extra. Terrible and snooty too. For what?
The steak is just AWESOME!!! However if you are not into greasy, buttery huge chunk of meat, to put it plainly - - - the steak is a heart attack waiting to happen. . . this is probably not for you. . . but I want my steak that way so this place just fits me perfectly. The steak, the fillet mignon the T-bone the rib-eye all of them. . . .YUMMY!! All of them buttery, all of them tasty, all them cooked to preference and all of them just melts in your mouth like butter. It is a little overprice, but yes, I do not mind. Other than the steak, the shrimp is awesome as well, the ahi tune, the crab cake, they are perfect. The only issue I have hear is that the staff tends to be a little bit snooty at times, but they warm up to you. . .I guess you only get what you dish out, so I guess if you are nice to them they are nice to you too. We always come back every year
I'm kind of a steak connoisseur as I have visitied many many steak houses in Toronto. This is my favorite one yet! The portions were huge. Well priced for what I ordered. Very tastey and just loved it all. I'm not a wind drinker so it was about $100 per person. :0) HIGHLY recommended
We went as a party of 10 yesterday thinking it was the best steak house. the service was bad and limited options. Ask for beer and there is only steam whistle!! if you go to any small, average restaurant they will offer you at least 3-4 types of beer. The steak is greasy and presented in a small plate (desert size) and you have to order a side dish. few mistakes in the orders as well. The waitress was not welcoming, rude and kept everybody uncomfortable. The bill came and was 100 dollars per person for a food worth 50 per person max. spend your money somewhere else
Besides large hunks of greasy steak, Ruth’s also offers seafood dishes such as seafood gumbo and shrimp sandwiches. There’s no stipulation that says you must eat the beef - other menu items are available for the less carnivorous. It may help, actually, to not have an obsession with beef if you’re running tight in the cash department. These steaks are not cheap meat - the prices are top of the line prices. The cheapest steak is $50, and you have to pay extra for the sides. Ouch. thankfully the grease is not extra.
When my co-workers and I decided to go to Ruth's for a nice steak dinner, we expected something that was apparently impossible for this "restaurant". SERVICE. I arrived later than the others, so I don't know what the waiting time was like, however it took about 45 minutes before we were approached for drink requests and appetizers. When I asked for tap water the waiter looked like he couldn't understand what I was asking for so I asked for plain water, not carbonated. He replied with a flat "no". I guess it was too difficult for him to get a simple cup of water from a tap. The appetizers were decent, nothing special, tasted like one of those pre-packaged meals from No Frills. The main course was OK enough, my steak was done the way I liked it and the potatoes were nice, creamy, and rich. But they were extra! Dessert was the definite "dead" part of the meal, to foreshadow a bit. I am allergic to nuts, and notified the waiter of that when I arrived in order to avoid problems later. I reminded him of it, and asked him if there were any nuts in the chocolate cake. He said no there were not. I asked if he was sure, and he said he was. About four bites into the cake, which was bland I wasn't able to finish it, I had an allergic reaction. I left to get my medication and informed the waiter of the problem. He didn't seem too caring, didn't offer any help whatsoever, and basically shrugged it off as something that wasn't his problem. When we came back afterwards, the waiter came in with the bill and without even apologizing left again. TIP = 0 I will never eat here again, never recommend this place, and hope to see the day where they actually provide service instead of a near death experience.
I love this restaurant. It's funny reading the reviews, seeing complaints about the sizzling plates and oil splatter. Maybe it was their waiter for failed to advise them, but everytime I go, they tell me to put my napkin around my collar when the food arrives, because of the sizzling plate and the splattering of oil and juices, in order to protect our clothes. The food is always phenomenal, and even more so when everything is half price (for those who took advantage of their anniversary special and bought the gift cards at 50% off). If you are not prepared to spend the money for a luxury meal, of course you wont enjoy the experience at this restaurant or any others in this calibre. This restaurant is for those who are not watching their wallets, but ready to experience whatever the menu has, without looking at the prices. Creme Brulee is fantastic, and the Crab Cakes are amazing. In addition to the amazing steaks of course. After coming here, I've changed my method of cooking steaks at home to broiling them as well, just like they do at this restaurant.
Be very careful when you order steak here. They keep the lights very dim and you will not notice it. They pour butter on the steak before serving it sizzling hot and of course there were oil spots and stain on my pants, shirt and up to my collar. I am lucky I didn't get burnt on my neck! I didn't notice until three hours later when I was at home and noticed all the fat splatter - BE CAREFUL
The negative reviews here are sure correct. I wish I hadn't listened to the adverts and read the reviews here first. This place is deinitely overpriced. I am willing to pay $100 per person for me and Mrs C. but not when the food is so bland. The steak had no taste. They nickle and dimed us and gave us bad food. I think the waiter was trying but he didn't look that hopeful honestly. Maybe it was because they were dead. Anyway, their steak was bland and tough. We suggest Barberians for steak or keg for steak in the GTA.
This is the downright worst restaurant ever. My party of 5 all got terrible food and got gross desert on the house. Terrible fatty steaks. NEVER GO TO RUTH CHRIS!
Although they have mastered the art of creating the perfect steak, the prices simply cannot justify visiting this location again. Each steak is served alone; you must order side dishes such as potatoes and veggies.
