Great Fish and Chips place

I have been eating here for a while and finally took a time to write this review. I am extremely happy about the service that is provided by the owner himself, he is very friendly and kind, I am happy he got rid of that wretched woman you call 'waitress'. I will definitely return for sure!!

I have been eating at Jasper's for about 15 years now, (I discovered the Pickering location and fell in love with the food there, then migrated to the Whitby location when it opened). The food is consistently delicious, and in my opinion, unequaled on this side of the Atlantic. The restaurant itself is bright and clean, and lacks the ubiquitous tacky netting, buoys, and plastic lobsters one finds in seafood restaurants. What a relief. The prices are rather high, but I don't mind paying for quality, and the freshly made chips and the immortally delicious halibut make it a nice treat once in a while. Jaspers does not cater to the late night crowd, and closes surprisingly early, even on Friday and Saturday nights which is disappointing. The biggest drawback of Jasper's is sadly the service, owing to a rather unpleasant woman whom is never out of the place. Most people I have spoken with comment on her brusque personality and frosty handling of the customers. This appears to be the only establishment where such an attitude is tolerated by the management—such a shame.

The chips are okay, nothing too shabby, but...

The chips are okay, nothing too shabby, but definatly acceptable for the table. The halibut is excellent white flesh and fried nicely. I find that it is a little higher priced for the amount of food you recieve. Its worth taking a stop by.

They have the best halibut and chips I've ever...

They have the best halibut and chips I've ever tasted....and I have tried many fish and chip restaurants. Don't know about the rest of the menu, when the fish and chips are that good, it's all I ever order!
