Dog Boarding and Daycare
We have a 9 Month Old Black Lab Puppy. We recently got married and needed a place to send our lovable pooch for the wedding and rehearsal nights so we could concentrate on us and our guests. We have used the Daycare side of SPR a few times to make sure the dog wasn't traumatized when we dropped him off. He really likes going there and as we get closer and closer he is pretty excited when he recognizes the building. The daycare is reasonable priced and we take him a few times a month to wear him out if we have functions after work. He comes home exhausted which is the goal and really seems to like it. Location is great for us living close to the edge of Springbank. I am happy that SPR was able to take our intact male puppy in for daycare, as some other places in Calgary had refused our puppy because he was still intact past 6 months of age. (Our breeder has recommended that we wait till one year of age before neutering to make sure his legs and ligaments develop properly and without future complications) They seem very strict in how the dogs are handled and procedures within the building. From the dog pickup/drop off procedure it seems overly organized but I can see why, just maybe a little more casual if I was the owner. My only suggestion/complaint is that its a little hard to get any information out of the staff in regards to his play time or temperment with the other dogs. Our puppy is an intact male which can be an issue with other males so I would like to get a little report card each time he is there for Daycare and for Boarding. I am also bummed that the boarding doesn't include socialization in the price. It is an add on, which I think should be included. Who takes their dog to a boarding kennel and get exercise with other dogs???
