As far back into childhood as her memory goes, Kendra Allen, creator and owner of House of Posie, has been an artist. “I’ve been drawing as long as I can remember,” she says. After trying many mediums of art, Kendra decided to learn the practical but still artistic trade of graphic design. “I had many passions in all areas of art and decided to put those skills into a practical career but then fell in love with everything about design," she says.
Having moved to Edmonton while pregnant, Kendra originally planned on landing a graphic design job, but after her daughter Posie came along in September 2014, she needed to scratch her artistic itch. Faced with an onslaught of “pink and glitter and over the top frills” in the girls’ clothing sections, she decided to combine her graphic design skills with her desire to dress Posie in fun, gender neutral designs, and the idea for House of Posie was born.
