If it’s Montreal bagels you long for you don’t have to travel east: The Bagel House makes all the classics in the traditional style and keeps up to date with the bagel trends in Montreal which means Torontonians don’t have to miss out. “When we came to Toronto back in 2000, we saw that there were no old style bagels,” says co-owner Jessie Sahadra.
Jessie moved to Montreal from India in 1988 and worked alongside current business partner Sat Chouhan in the baked goods trade for years before heading to Ontario. “Toronto bagels weren’t made to the original recipe. We wanted to change that and bring real bagels to Torontonians.”
Soups, salads, sandwiches and coffees complete an eat-in and take-out menu while Jessie and Sat also assemble catering bagel platters.
