I have been to many sushi places and this is definitely up there in terms of quality. It is cheap and the service is very good as well. I make the one hour drive from Gravenhurst to Barrie at least once a week to eat at Aji Sai. I would definitely recommend it.
I have been many times. It is the perfect place to bring those new to sushi since there are plenty of other less intimidating items for them to have as they ease their way into the foreign world of Sushi such as spring rolls, rice & chicken. The price is good. The service is usually good, but when its busy, it can be slow, but that just gives you more time to digest between courses so you can eat more and get more bang for your buck. As you will read in other comments, Sushi conneseurs will note that this is not neccesarily the best sushi out there, but still excelent. However, I must say the comment going on about how Mayo in sushi is not authentic must come from someone who has never been to Japan because the Japanese put mayo on/in EVERYTHING (Even PIZZA). Not that you need to have been to Japan to have an opinion on the food you eat but if the complaint is based on the lack of authenticity, maybe you would be interested to know that most Sushi places in North America serve California rolls, which among other common menu items are unheard of in Japan. But those, along with the Chicken wings and other fare available, are added to the menu to give variety and "North Americanize" the menu a bit to bridge the cultral differences a bit. I find the fact that they charge for items not finished to be reasonable. If they didnt, I would imagine they would have to set prices higher to accomodate the waste since some sushi ingredients can be very expensive.
The food here is fabulous, the atmosphere is CLEAN and modern, and the service is friendly and helpful. The menu choices are wonderful. The presentation was fabulous. A great place to bring a date.
Excellent sushi. On the weekends, for $18.99/person, you get all you can eat sushi - you order it, they bring it fresh as you order. Excellent service, phenomenal sushi, and knowledgable staff. As a side note, I have also ordered a sushi party platter for a party I had, and for $29, you get 50 pieces of sushi, ready in a matter of minutes, not to mention the extra soy, wasabi and ginger they pack in with your platter. My new favourite restaurant in Barrie -I highly recommend it.
This restaurant was great! Went for lunch with my brother today, and it was comparable to sushi restaurants in Markham and Toronto minus all the hassle to find a parking spot. I would definitely come back to this restaurant. Very friendly and polite service, bright, clean and modern restaurant. For a sushi restaurant like this in Barrie, I'm really impressed.
